THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE CAPUCHIN SCHOOLS

Mission statement of the Capuchin Schools in the Philippine Province

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We, the Capuchin Brothers, fully committed to the Spirit of the Gospel in proclaiming the Good News of Salvation, building the Christian Community and serving the people of God declare and profess our dynamic response to the needs of the times in our apostolate education.

We follow the poor and crucified Christ, the ideal of a perfect man, as the center of the whole educational endeavor . In the Gospel and in the Eucharist, we approach and mirror Christ particularly in the mystery of his kenosis, patterning our lives after his teaching and example.

We develop a Christ-centered individual through an assiduous study of the Paschal Mystery and awareness of the gift of faith received in Baptism.

We build a community of prayer and faith as the source of support and inner strength in every experience of faith-life situation of our time.

We promote a Christian community which actively participates in the works of the Church as a living witness to Christ.

We look up to Mary, our Mother, and St. Francis of Assisi as our source of inspiration.

We appropriate a special form of veneration to Our Lady of Lourdes, the most Holy Mother of Christ and patroness of the Philippine province, for the singular place which she occupies in God's redemptive plan for her astounding virtues.

We develop and nurture a value system based on the Franciscan spirituality; the fruits of which are love, brotherhood, joy, peace, simplicity, fidelity to the Church and dedication to the realization of the Kingdom of God on earth as exemplified by St. Francis of Assisi.

We build an educative community permeated by the Gospel . We realize that in the educative community, human knowledge enlightened and enlivened by faith in the Gospel ideas, is shared by the community of the Capuchin Brothers, lay administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and alumni in a spirit of freedom and love through responsible interaction and participation so that the greatest possible growth can be achieved.

We promote an integral formation which calls for earnest search for the truth, the attainment of academic excellence, and the critical assimilation of culture in the light of faith.

We commit ourselves to the service of the society for the attainment of national development goals.

We enhance a deeper consciousness of the society in preserving cultural heritage and national identity in every socio-economic situation.

We believe that our community is a part of a larger community where prophetic responsibilities are assumed to promote justice, peace, freedom, human dignity, growth and development.

This is the mission statement to which we are called, the creed we profess to follow and make our own. Now, in the presence of the holy tribune of God, our Blessed Mother, our Father Francis and our Capuchin Brothers, we again profess our total unwavering dedication to the mission statement and we beg God's mercy and blessing on our efforts to live it, for the love of the Father and the whole People of God.
